4WD Jetboat tour

You will enjoy a 4x4 journey which will take you to some incredible viewing locations which will offer stunning views over the Waimak Gorge, the Canterbury plains and on a clear day all the way back to Christchurch and the Port Hills.

Along the way your guide will give informative commentary regarding the farming operations and history of the properties. After an exciting 1.5 hours of 4x4 driving and sightseeing we make our way down to Rubicon Valley Tourist Centre where you will get to experience the world famous jet spin as your jet boat takes you deep into the mighty Waimak, passing through low water and rapids, passing cliff faces and shingle banks.  Visit 2 private high country stations on your way back.

Erewhon Station Tour

Erewhon Station is a 35,000 acre property situated at the foothills of the Southern Alps at the top of the Rangitata River. Erewhon Station was originally made famous by the book Erewhon written by Samual Butler.

Head into the stunning Canterbury high country with its rugged mountain ranges, crystal blue lakes and fresh crisp mountain air.

At Erewhon you will get to meet the owners of the property, Colin and Erin, this working high country station farms Merino sheep, Hereford Cattle, deer and includes a large Clydesdale Horse Stud. A lot of the work on the property is still undertaken using the Clydesdale horses such as towing wagons and working the fields by towing ploughs, your time at the property will be spent enjoying a unique Clydesdale horse wagon ride experience and enjoying a picnic lunch in a spectacular setting while soaking in the amazing views. 

Glenfalloch Station Tour

Drive across the Canterbury plains and into the rugged tussock and snow-covered mountains of the Canterbury High Country.

After morning tea on the banks of lake Heron, the tour continues the journey to arrive at Lake Heron Station at which point the road ends and the tour begins its exciting 4x4 adventure over these two spectacular private high country stations  Arriving at Glenfalloch Station there will be a gourmet lunch provided at a location truly like no other, you will be in awe of the views. After enjoying a delicious lunch and having the opportunity to talk with the station owners the tour begins its journey home down the south bank of the Rakaia River to the Rakaia Gorge.

Kaikoura Whale Watch

This full day tour includes a scenic drive from Christchurch over the Canterbury plains before arriving in the majestic seaside village of Kaikoura. You will visit a fur seal colony before heading into Kaikoura for some free time to explore and enjoy lunch at your leisure. In the afternoon you will board a catamaran with Whale Watch Kaikoura and enjoy an up-close encounter with the Giant Sperm Whale.

Longbeach Estate Tour

Longbeach Estate is one of Canterbury’s original sheep farming stations, founded in 1864 and was originally 30,000 acres in size. The Station was a self-supporting community with its own post office, school, general store, flour mill, brick works, church, smithy, bakery and cook house and employed a permanent staff of 200 farm hands. The station has stayed in the same family since 1864 but today is around 3,000 acres and farming practices consist of prime lamb production, wool, cereal crops, grass seed crops and a dairy farming unit.

Longbeach Estate is famous for its farming history, historic buildings and stunning gardens consisting of sweeping lawns and gardens.  Enjoy a guided tour of the gardens and historic buildings as well as enjoying a guided coach tour through the farm.

After leaving Longbeach Estate we will visit Trotts Garden in Ashburton, this garden began its life as one mans dream on a barren four hectare paddock, Alan Trott decided to create a garden that would become a place people would visit and enjoy and one that would inspire others to create something special on their own land. Trotts garden is considered to be outstanding for its horticultural values in plant material, cultivation designs, construction and maintenance, Trotts Garden has been awarded 6 stars through the New Zealand Garden Trust.

Lord of the Rings Edoras Tour
