We love to hear your family stories and to help investigate whereabouts they might have lived or are now buried in Lyttelton.
Lyttelton was the entry point to New Zealand for so many families coming from the UK and Europe and the harbour still is home to the Ngati Wheke Runanga.The Christchurch City Library (Turanga) is not only a great place to visit, but has some amazing resources to help you on your Family History Discovery Path. You can access sites such as Ancestory.com and other sites which might normally ask you for a subscription, free of charge.They can also provide some professional help from their Genealogy Specialist Librarians who do a 30 minute search for free (there is a charge associated with longer searches).
